The Oklahoma State Department of Health
[1] serves as the major health protection agency in the state. The
primary aim of the department is to protect and promote health and to prevent disease and injury so that Oklahoma can become a healthy place to live. The Department through its system of local health services delivery works to improve and protect the health status of the public through strategies that focus on preventing disease. The three major service branches of the Department are Prevention and Preparedness Services, Community & Family Health Services and Protective Health Services. These branches offer guidance and technical support to 68 county health departments.

Medicaid or SoonerCare ProgramSoonerCare or Medicaid program of Oklahoma offer health care services to children till 18 years of age, people who are older than 65, pregnant women and people who have blindness or other disability. The following programs are a part of Medicaid Program: Health Care for Children with Disabilities (TEFRA), Family Planning, Aged, Blind and Disabled and Health Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT).
